Friday Favorites #4 – I Didn’t Pay For Netflix This Year Edition

by Jonathan on December 9, 2011 · 4 comments

Friday FavoritesIt’s been just over two years since I signed up with Netflix and got rid of my cable TV, and I haven’t regretted it once. Having control over what I watch instead of just watching what is on is amazing, and the selection Netflix has is pretty good. Sure they have had some price increases, but they are still well below what TV runs, so they are still a good deal in my mind.

On a similar note, though, I just realized last night that I received my entire 3 DVD subscription completely free…if you think of it that way. This blog brought in $235.69, which about covers the 19 bucks a month that is Netflix. They just recently went up to 23 month, so I may have paid $10 bucks, but still, not bad.

Favorites This Week

On to my favorite posts from my blogroll this week. I like to share one post of each blog on my blogroll, as a way of sharing other people’s triumphs in the blogosphere. This also gives them backlinks and so helps to support their blogging income effots.

Bob had a very interesting post about purchases that lead to other purchases – iBuys. This is probably the reason I stear clear of most gadgets now a days. Speaking of that, stay tuned next week.

This is actually from last week, but Jeff went Elk Hunting! I think that is so cool. I have a life goal of learning to hunt.

Eliza had a giveaway for her new book – 101 Things To Do With Bacon. A tornado victim won, so talk about things working out well!

Corey @ 20sFinances talked about how earning more money can be dangerous. I am thankful to have recognized this after getting a job, and deciding to live the way I had been living.

Corey also had a great post on his Passive Income To Retire blog about whether you should keep your job once you start making money online. This was really rolling around in my head yesterday, and I’m grateful to have read it.

Crystal blogged about whether she should get a personal trainer or not. Personally, I would not spend the money on a trainer, but that is just me. :)

Thanks for including me. I dropped my netflix streaming when they raised the price a few months back, but we kept the 1 dvd at a time plan.

Yea it’s too bad they raised their prices. Netflix is about our only regular splurge and is the only monthly cost we have that is a ‘want’, so we aren’t too concerned with it.
