New Toshiba Laptop

My New Laptop!

It has been a reeeeeeally long time since I have purchased any kind of new electronic. I bought a Gateway laptop the winter after I graduated. This was almost 7 years ago now, so it can safely be said it was a little old and clunky. It got the job done, however. That is, until a couple of weeks ago, when it decided to die on me. The screen had been going out for a while, but now it won’t stay turned on for more than a minute. I think the motherboard went bad.

That wouldn’t be so bad, except for the fact that my desktop went out a few days before that! Same problem, I think it was the motherboard. It turns on, but does nothing. I am very sad about this, because I built it from scratch the summer after I graduated, so again it is about 6 years old. It was very fast back then, and still reasonably so today. Well, until it died. :P

So, only having access to my wife’s laptop, we decided to go ahead and get something during the whole Cyber Monday thing, since there were some pretty snazzy deals around. I wanted to use half my bonus and build a massive desktop again, but decided against it since we are in need of quite a few things around the house. Instead I purchased a $400 laptop from newegg. It gets the job done and then some. I sometimes enjoy a video game here and there (only on  PC!), and this handles everything pretty well. I am very happy.

Here are the stats that matter :

Brand – Toshiba

Screen – 15.6″ LED

Hard Drive – 320 GB

RAM – 4GB expandable to 8GB

CPU – Quad Core AMD

Video Card = AMD Radeon HD 6520G (it’s awesome!)

Here are the highlights from my blogroll, for the week -

Bob is have a massive giveway, which includes an ipad 2, kindle fire and barnes and noble nook! Seems a lot of bloggers are doing this lately.

Jeff talked about his No Spend November results, and I learned that he is getting married next year. Congrats!

Corey gave an overview of what credit cards he is now using to get as much cash back as possible. This can be very lucrative…

Crystal gave her monthly income and stats update, and yet again wowed everyone! Over $10,000!

PITR (run by Corey) has started giving an overview of his plan to create a passive income over the next few years. Needless to say, I have readily subscribed.

Whoops, I’ll change that… Yea you should back up your data. Just an external would work great so when it does go out, you’ll still have your stuff.
